LE CLOS SAUMUR CHAMPIGNY 2021 CHATEAU DE LA FESSARDIERE

18,00  incl. VAT

Between Anjou, Touraine and Poitou, in the heart of the Loire Valley, Château de la Fessardière is located in Turquant, a charming Loire village known for its troglodyte dwellings, hilltop vineyards and the magnificent scenery offered by the Loire River below the white chalk cliffs.

Our vineyards, managed by the Poitevin family, extend over the communes of Turquant and Montsoreau, which are part of the Saumur Champigny DPO. The terroir is made up of clay-limestone soil and precious tufa rock in the subsoil. This tuffeau stone, which is the hallmark of the Loire Valley’s cultural identity through its countless castles, abbeys, towns and villages, provides vines with a regular supply of water, even in times of drought, thanks to its porosity. Tuffeau also brings freshness and fruitiness to our cuvées.

Description

Winemaking

When the grapes are harvested at maturity, the vines are thinned out if necessary before harvesting. This cuvée comes from a selection of terroirs, vinified at low temperature and aged for 10 months. Also available in magnum (150 cl).

TASTING

Deep garnet-red color, fresh nose of red and black fruits, some spicy notes. Fruity and sweet on the palate, with a hint of bitterness that gives it length, and a smooth, unctuous finish. Ready to drink, this cuvée can also be left to mature over the years in the bottle.

SERVICE AND AGREEMENTS

Between 16° and 18° degrees. It goes well with all red meats and cheeses.
