Domaine de la Bergerie is a Loire vineyard located in the Anjou region, at the eastern end of the Armorican Massif.

Set on the schist bedrock of Anjou Noir, our 36-hectare vineyard benefits from a variety of soils and a mild oceanic influence that allows us to explore all the facets of Chenin, Cabernet and Grolleau. It’s an environment that allows the wines to express themselves fully.

Description

Deep golden colour. Intense, complex nose. Candied notes of fruit paste, dried apricot and roasted pineapple. The palate is equally full-bodied, voluminous and rich.

Grape variety: Chenin

Terroir :coal shale, sandstone

Exposition :south-east facing slope

Geographical location:village of Chaume, district of Rochefort-sur-Loire

Harvesting:By hand and by selective picking, in search of concentration through noble rot and/or passerillage.

Vinification:Pressurage très lent et léger débourbage. Fermented and matured in 400L barrels for 18 to 24 months.

Cellaring potential :20 years or more.

Tasting: Deep golden colour. Intense, complex nose. Notes confites de pâte de fruits, d’abricot sec et d’ananas rôti. The palate is equally full-bodied, voluminous and rich.

Comment on the Quarts de Chaume: The open horizon and proximity of the Layon river allow botrytis to settle in optimally.

Food and wine pairing :
Breton biscuit, Light cream spiced with cardamom, Candied orange marmalade.
