SAUMUR CHAMPIGNY AOP GM DOMAINE DES AMANDIERS

11,00  incl. VAT

Located in the heart of the Saumur vineyards, our estate, run by Marc and Etienne Rideau, is in TURQUANT, a village of winegrowers, charm and arts and crafts, but also in the heart of the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Marc Rideau took over his grandfather’s vineyards in 1985, then another farm in 1993, and expanded the vineyard: 12 hectares spread over four communes, Montsoreau, Parnay, Souzay, Champigny and Turquant. His son Étienne joined him in 2015.

Description

Behind a dark red colour with purplish highlights on GM lie beautiful aromas of ripe fruit and lilac. It’s on the palate that you realise just how powerful this warm wine is, with its intense fruitiness and silky tannins.

VINEYARDS :

Town: TURQUANT
Location :plateau, clay-limestone soil
Grape variety : cabernet franc 100 %
Age: under 25
Vineyard management: Integrated vineyard management is practised in order to respect the environment; Guyot Val de Loire pruning, grassing and alternate cultivation between rows in order to control vigour; leaf thinning.
Yield: 50-55 hl / ha

HARVESTING: At full maturity, mechanical

VINIFICATION: Harvest entirely destemmed, vatting for 10-15 days; malolactic fermentation; racking then filtration on soil in February/March.

AGEING: In vats for 4 months and bottled by us. La vinification, l’élevage et le stockage se déroulent entièrement dans des caves troglodytiques creusées dans le tuffeau, à une température quasi constante de 10-12°C.

TASTING NOTES: The fruity nose, backed up by persistent red fruit flavours on the palate, and its lightness make this a delicious wine. This low-ageing cuvée (2-3 years) is best appreciated for its freshness.

FOOD & WINE Pairings: Serve slightly chilled at 12-14°C as an aperitif, with fish, cold meats and roast white meats.
