SAUMUR CHAMPIGNY LES FEVETTES CHATEAU HUREAU ROUGE 2019

18,00  incl. VAT

In the heart of the Loire Valley, Philippe VATAN, Yann LELIAS and Mickaël Mandote welcome you to the Château du Hureau wine estate and offer you Saumur Champigny, Saumur Blanc and Coteaux de Saumur wines, all ranked among the best in their respective appellations.
As its name suggests, Dampierre sur Loire was first known for its tuffeau quarrying. All the cellars here were dug by man, the first over a thousand years ago, and our cellar is just one tiny part of a gigantic underground network.
By digging in the tufa stone, our ancestors were killing two birds with one stone: they were selling or using the ashlars, and at the same time building a home and shelter for their livestock and crops, including, of course, the wine.

Description

Vinified separately since 1989, this cuvée comes from our oldest Cabernet Franc vineyard: planted in 1943, its old vines deserve some respect! Still in very good health, they continue, vintage after vintage, to give us bottles of a Saumur Champigny of great character, which really has its fans. The aromatic finesse of the old Cabernets, a serious structure and a proven aptitude for long ageing: in 2010, Fevettes 1990 once again made many people happy…
