L’histoire des Godeau : une famille de vignerons
It was 145 years ago that our ancestor, Auguste, settled here and began digging in the tufa stone beneath the hillside supporting his vines. Tandis que la plus grande cave était destinée à la production des vins, les autres ont hébergé les vaches, chevaux et cochons. The stones extracted were used to build the house and the farmhouse.
It is in these cellars that 6 generations of our family have passed on their passion for our terroir and wines.
Today, the estate is classified as “High Environmental Value” represents 45 hectares of vines and covers the entire hillside between the villages of Civray-de-Touraine and Chenonceaux.
With our7 different grape varieties,we have a wine to suit every palate. From the very outskirts of Château de Chenonceau, you’ll be able to see what we do.we work the vines and wines for our illustrious neighbour.

Description
Malolactic fermentation
The main winemaking operation is alcoholic fermentation. In the case of red wines, once this process is complete and the yeasts die, bacteria take over and consume the malic acid in the wine, transforming it into lactic acid.
This reduces acidity and stabilises and softens the wine.
