TRADITION SAUMUR BLANC CHATEAU DE LA FESSARDIERE 2023
12,50 € incl. VAT
Between Anjou, Touraine and Poitou, in the heart of the Loire Valley, Château de la Fessardière is located in Turquant, a charming Loire village known for its troglodyte dwellings, hilltop vineyards and the magnificent scenery offered by the Loire River below the white chalk cliffs.
Our vineyards, managed by the Poitevin family, extend over the communes of Turquant and Montsoreau, which are part of the Saumur Champigny DPO. The terroir consists of clay-limestone soil and precious tuffeau stone in the subsoil. This tuffeau stone, a hallmark of the Loire Valley’s cultural identity through its countless castles, abbeys, towns and villages, provides the vines with a regular supply of water, even in times of drought, thanks to its porosity. Tuffeau also brings freshness and fruitiness to our cuvées.
Description
First sorting in the chenin. Aged for around 4 months on the fine lees to achieve great aromatic finesse. Bottling takes place at the beginning of the year.
A limpid pale yellow colour, with aromas of white flowers, a fresh attack with notes of citrus fruit and yellow lemon, freshness and volume on the palate.
Serve between 8° and 10°. Structured and lively, it is a perfect match for oysters and other shellfish, and goes well with grilled and fried fish. Drink within the year to retain its freshness on the palate.
